PBA TRADE ALERT! Converge and Rain or Shine made a deal!

Converge has made another move this offseason by acquiring Mike Nieto from Rain or Shine. In exchange for Nieto, the Elasto Painters will receive second round picks in the PBA's 49th and 50th seasons from the FiberXers. This marks the second time Converge has acquired a former Ateneo player in a trade, with Adrian Wong being the first.

Converge has also undergone changes within its management side. Pampanga Governor Dennis 'Delta' Pineda has been named as the team governor and representative to the PBA Board, while former PBA commissioner Chito Salud will serve as alternate governor. Jacob Lao, another former Ateneo player, has been appointed as the new team manager, with CK Kanapi as assistant team manager.

Now, is the trade fair?

If you do not watch intently the game of Mike Nieto, it could be easy to just dismiss him as someone who is not equal to two 2nd round picks.

He do not have a game with explosive highlights or moves. He is just that skilled not-that-athletic wing who is not good in getting the crowd excited.

Nevertheless, eye-test and numbers are pointing to Nieto as a good prospect. So, I actually think that the trade is fine.

Those two 2nd round picks are far enough that they could be high if Converge fail in their current build-up to becoming a contender.
