Is this the end for the flaming hands?

There is no doubt that a lot of the young fans today still remember the cinderella run of the Powerade Tigers. And of course, that moment when El Granada exhibited his most iconic reaction of a flaming hand.

Gary David turned himself from a star into a superstar with his iconic performances in that conference.

His name was put into the same sentences as James Yap and Mark Caguioa. Nobody was stopping the brightness of his star at that point.

Then, Powerade sold the franchise. That was the beginning of the end for Gary.

Powerade was the franchise of Gary David. He could have claimed another franchise back then if he was not already 34 years old.

So, what if Powerade maintained the franchise and the core after witnessing what they did in that Philippine Cup? The Casio-Lassiter-David-Anthony-Kramer five will surely be a better version in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

Okay. Let us stop the what ifs. Gary David may never found a way back into the PBA again.

But. The name Gary David and Powerade will always be remembered as the Cinderella story of the 21st century. Even though, we did not witnessed a happy ending.
