The END of the PBA could be coming...

It seems like the stand-off between the two blocs in the PBA is rooted somewhere deeper than what we see from the outside.

The "team owners" on the MVP side invited the team owners on the other bloc but to no avail! That is the most prominent sign that the two sides may never settle their differences.

The team owners are rich guys who value connections and will not burn down bridges that easily. The no-show of the SMC side could mean that they are not really interested on any settlement.

Even if they are still interested in a settlement, the no-show still dictates that they have a big problem with the other side.

One more factor that is not highly publicize is the fact that the profit of the PBA in the concluded season was way below the previous low of P200 million. They only reached P162 million.

That actually points the finger again on the SMC bloc for supporting a commissioner who is not really performing well, even on the business side.

But, the biggest driving force of my belief that the end could be sooner rather than later for the league is the fact that both side has the option to leave the oldest professional league in the country.

If the SMC side chose to create their own league, PBA will be without their two most popular ball club.

If the MVP side depart, only five teams will remain and even though they are popular teams, the integrity of the league could be tarnished beyond repair!

Personally, I think this is for the better. I am not saying that I am rooting for the league to just be part of our history but we do need a revolution to come up with a much better league.
