PBA News Analysis: The impact if Parks pushed for a trade out of Blackwater

I told you so, this saga is not yet over. Bobby Ray Parks Jr. admitted to Spin.ph that he has not signed the three-years max offer of Blackwater Elite.

Again, financially, Mr. Parks should not have any legal reason to not accept the offer from Blackwater because that is already the maximum that they can give.

The moment he turns that down and looks for another team, that other team will surely receive backlash and will be perceived as an unfair franchise.

Actually, this statement from Ray was really heavy " As of now, they own my rights, but I haven’t signed anything yet."

It seems like he really feels that he is in control here and the thing that he wants at the end will be the one that will be followed.

If he pushed for a trade, almost all of the key impacts of his decision will be negative.

NEGATIVE TO THE PARITY OF THE LEAGUE
Blackwater badly needs a player of his caliber. We just saw them play like a D-League team in the elimination round of the Philippine Cup. If he successfully gets traded because of his insistence, it will also be a precedent for the future talented draftees to exert their power in choosing the team that they want to play for.

And of course, we all know by now that financially, the teams of SMC and MVP are the best givers. Not only that, SMC teams have the biggest fan bases for players who want to be popular.

So, SMC and MVP teams may not need to do hocus pocus in the future because players will now have a historical precedent of going to a team that they want.

Lastly, just the mere fact that the big teams can further get an advantage over the smaller franchises could be a killer for the parity of the league.

NEGATIVE TO THE IMAGE OF PARKS
Rayray should really think about it. Majority of the PBA fans are already soured with how long he played outside the PBA before finally stepping into the league. Adding this fiasco will further villainize him in the eyes of the fans.

How about give Blackwater at least three conferences? Blackwater has a good load of young studs that can help him and proven veterans. I think if he is as good as I think he is, Parks can carry this team as deep as the Finals if they get the right import.

Imagine the fanfare if he does that?
