The right trade package for Bobby Ray Parks

Bobby Ray Parks is again on the spotlight because rumors are swirling that trade will finally happen anytime soon!

Now, we just witnessed the Stanley Pringle trade to Ginebra and the PBA universe was not happy about it. So, if Blackwater wants to retain some form of legitimacy this is the package that they should ask for.

A legit bigman
They do need to get a legit bigman. Looking at their current roster, a good bigman is badly needed. Rabeh Al-Hussaini and Abu Tratter are good pieces on their frontline rotation but that is not enough. Just look at the center rotations of championship-caliber teams.

Like, if Parks is going to Ginebra, at least Caperal should be involved. Now, if it is Meralco still, then Ranidel de Ocampo should be part of the package. But the most promising bigman that they can target is, of course, Christian Standhardinger. A one-on-one trade between Parks and Standhardinger will surely be embraced by the fans because they will finally see Standhardinger carry his own team and start a gigantic rivalry with June Mar Fajardo.

A 1st round pick
Now if Standhardinger is not on the table, a 1st round pick should be going to the Elite. A 1st round pick this 2019 draft or even in the 2020 draft could be very valuable because the projected depths of those two drafts are enormous. The good thing about the upcoming two drafts is the depth of the bigs that could enter. Grabbing as many centers as possible is the name of the game in this era of the PBA.

Young prospect/s
Depending on the quality of the bigman and the 1st round pick, young prospects should also be part of the package. The Elite should at least received a young baller that has the potential to be a starting-caliber player, two seasons from now. All the deciphered four possible teams have young prospects at their disposal.

Example of the right package
Let us say Meralco will still be the team to get Parks. I think the acceptable package would be:
2020 1st round pick of Meralco
Ranidel de Ocampo
Baser Amer

The foundation of this trade is, of course, Amer for Parks. Now, if you are not aware, Baser is only 26 years old. At that very young age, he already showcased a lot in the league. So, do not underestimate the potential of the Hammer. I think, the difference in the ceiling of Parks and Amer should be covered by the 2020 1st round pick and RDO, who could be a mentor to the young bigs of the Elite.
