The future of Columbian Dyip is much brighter

Now that the Columbian Dyip has survived the trade deadline without making any transaction, it is now safe to say that CJ Perez will complete the 2019 PBA season with the franchise.

That means, they are a lot of steps closer in healing the wounds that they have created for the image of their franchise because of the Standhardinger trade.

Now, the next step is for them to resist trading away their first round pick in the upcoming 2019 PBA draft, which is currently projected to be a top 3 pick. And then choose the draft entrant that could follow the lead of Perez who will play hard for a young franchise like Columbian.

Instead of going for guys like Thirdy Ravena and Isaac Go, who are raised in an MVP-supported UAAP school, they should look for guys like Sean Manganti and Roosevelt Adams.

What is great about the roster-construction of Columbian is that they actually have centers who could go against the giants of the league. I am talking about Jay-R Reyes, Jeepy Faundo and Joseph Gabayni.

So, getting a wingman in the upcoming draft will be a great addition to the team. A core of Sean Manganti / Roosevelt Adams, CJ Perez, Rashawn McCarthy and Jackson Corpuz looks as promising as the other young cores out there.

One thing that is missing is of course a young giant to man the center. They will need to be patient about it. The good news is, the 2020 draft could be having at least three capable bigs. And if they get one of the top 6 picks, they should be able to get one.

So, if they could resist trading Perez, McCarthy, Corpuz, their 2019 1st and their 2020 1st, they will be having a complete core as early as the 2020-2021 season.

I hope they realize that.
