The 2019 PBA Mythical Team and the MVP should be...

Now that the 2019 season of the PBA, we can actually say that it was 2019-2020 because the on-going season will end in January, is down to two teams, we can now talk about awards.

First in my list is to name the five members of the mythical team. Mythical team usually follows the five traditional positions of center, power forward, small forward, shooting guard and point guard. I am not bound to follow that because this is my blog and we are already in the modern era of basketball. As long as I have a team that has a legit center and a legit point guard, it should be playable in the court.

So, who should be part of the mythical team?

June Mar Fajardo
This one is easy. His dominance is normal already. So, we are not obliged to be in awe as he averaged 18.9 points, 13 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.5 blocks and 57.2% FG per game this season. He is as s Kraken as ever. He is the only player that averages double-double this year.

Japeth Aguilar
Japeth was the most consistent Ginebra player for this season. Overall, he produced 14.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.4 blocks and 56% FG per game. He averaged 13 or more points and 1.2 or more blocks in each conference. His defense was also as reliable as ever as he match the defensive rating of Fajardo at 100.7.

RR Pogoy
If we thought that Pogoy's breakout season was last year, that may not be the case. He again increased his numbers to 16.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.8 steals, 36% 3FG and 2.4 three-pointers per game. He legitimized himself as the best 3-and-D guy in the PBA. That 1.8 steals per game is an elite number that will be hard for him to replicate in the future.

Chris Ross
He may not have that high scoring output that you like in your stars but the guy is just the right point guard for the best team this conference. He manufactured 8.8 points, 5 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 2.2 steals and 36% 3FG per game. The rise of his three-point shot has been a huge boost to his game and to his team and of course his patented defense was still there.

CJ Perez
Yes. His team never made the playoffs this conference but there is no way that I will deny him a spot in this team when he led the league in scoring in the two import-laden conference. He ended up averaging 20.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.9 steals, 45% FG and 33% 3FG per game. Numbers do not lie.

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER
For the fifth straight year, the choice for the MVP is easy. Yes, it is June Mar Fajardo. There is no one who could go near his combination of production and success. Fortunately, next season could be a much different story and we could be having debates.
