We are a few days away from the start of the 2021 season of the Philippine Basketball Association. The league has given the green light, not only to prepare and train but also to make transactions between teams.
So, how about ranking the teams according to the likelihood that they will make the first trade this month?
#11-#12 Meralco Bolts and Phoenix Super LPG
They do have several rumors in the past few months but I do not think any of those were serious enough to believe that they will make a trade soon.
#8-10 Terrafirma, Alaska, Blackwater, NLEX
Another set of teams that did have trade rumors in the past few months and more likely to be true. NLEX was part of a long Belga rumor but as per the latest, they already withdrew their intention.
#5-#7 Phoenix, Rain or Shine and Ginebra
Three teams that have been part of a lot of trade rumors in the past few months but I think, these two teams are already settled with their line-up. Ginebra though has several players in different trade rumors like Jared Dillinger and Kent Salado, and Ginebra can easily give up these two players.
#4 TNT
I think, they already have a good roster to compete for the title but they do have some trade paths that very likely. Like, Troy Rosario has been a popular part of several trade rumors. And Ray Parks.
#3 San Miguel Beermen
With the health concern on June Mar Fajardo and even Terrence Romeo, I think there is a good chance that SMB will beef up their team.
#2 Magnolia Hotshots
I am willing to bet a P1000 that Magnolia will be making a trade before the end of the 2021 Philippine Cup. It is either the realization of the long and strong Jio Jalalon trade rumor or simply filling up their need in their frontline.
#1 Northport Batang Pier
There is a very good chance that trade by Magnolia or San Miguel will involve Northport. I just hope that we will be having a fair trade.
