We are reminded recently about a trade that was suppose to happen in 2015! Marcio Lassiter was scheduled to be part of Ginebra. While JC Intal will be coming to San Miguel.
That trade did not happen and Marcio ended up as one of the members of the legendary Death Five of the San Miguel franchise.
While Ginebra never found an elite local wing shooter up to this point. Arvin Tolentino was the closest but he is a forward.
Right now, Ginebra is still in need of a legit and consistent three-point shooter! They have a much deeper line-up now but an elite shooter is still missing.
So, a trade for Lassiter is still logical!
SMB received Will Navarro
Ginebra received Marcio Lassiter
Northport received future Aljon Mariano and 2nd round pick
San Miguel needs a forward. Northport has a forward that is showing glimpses of very high potential in Navarro. Before Navarro established himself as a future superstar, San Miguel can pounce and trade for him.
Ginebra will give up Mariano who has loss his spot to Jamie Malonzo and Jeremiah Gray and a low 2nd round pick to make it look like this is a trade of quantity for quality.
Northport will reason it out to the public that Navarro do not want to play for them. So, it is much better for them to trade him.
