PBA FREE AGENCY: Converge cut two players but will add a world-class player?

Converge has parted ways with both guard Mike Tolomia and Taylor Browne, reducing the number of players acquired from the buyout of the Alaska franchise to only two remaining with the team.

Following their failure to secure contract renewals from the FiberXers for the upcoming PBA Season 48, Tolomia and Browne are now classified as free agents.

Jeron Teng was released by the team last month without any compensation, while Maverick Ahanmisi chose to sign with Barangay Ginebra as an unrestricted free agent.

Tolomia, who was part of the 2016 Special Draft for Gilas pool players, previously played for Rain or Shine, Meralco, Blackwater, and Alaska.

Browne, chosen in the second round (No. 16) by Alaska during the Season 46 draft, hails from the University of British Columbia and represented the team during the 2019 Jones Cup, which was won by Mighty Sports.

With the departure of the three players, Kevin Racal and Alec Stockton now stand as the lone remnants from the Alaska franchise that Converge inherited last year.

Several other former Alaska players who were acquired by Converge have since found new teams, including RK Ilagan, Abu Tratter, Robbie Herndon, Mike Digregorio, Yousef Taha, Rey Publico, Ben Adamos, and Allyn Bulanadi.

The FiberXers are currently focused on assembling a young, athletic roster, having signed six of the 12 rookies they selected in the last draft, including first-round picks BJ Andrade and Deschon Winston.

Another interesting rumor is the sighting of Mac Tallo, the former #1 player of the country in 3x3.
