PBA Trade Rumors: NLEX has two players in the TRADE BLOCK?

The PBA trade mill is spinning once again, and the NLEX Road Warriors appear to be at the center of the action. Recent "Kuliglig" (insider) reports suggest that the Road Warriors are actively looking to shake up their roster, with rookie standout Enoch Valdez and veteran forward Jvee Mocon both reportedly on the trading block.

Enoch Valdez: A High-Value Target

Despite a promising start to his pro career, 25-year-old Enoch Valdez is being offered to teams like Phoenix Fuel Masters and Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.

Valdez, who earned significant praise from coach Frankie Lim for his aggression and work ethic, has shown flashes of brilliance, including a double-digit performance that helped sink Converge earlier this season. However, NLEX's management seems intent on capitalizing on his current value. Reportedly, the Road Warriors are seeking:

  • Draft Picks: Aiming to secure future talent in the upcoming Season 51 or 52 drafts.

  • Young Players: Looking for a specific fit to complement their current core of Robert Bolick and Kevin Alas.

The Jvee Mocon Stumbling Block

While Valdez represents potential, Jvee Mocon represents a proven veteran presence—but one that comes with a heavy price tag.

Mocon, who was acquired by NLEX from Phoenix in late 2024, is reportedly available for trade. However, insiders point to his maximum salary of ₱420,000 per month as the primary hurdle. Many teams are hesitant to take on such a significant contract, especially with the league's salary cap considerations and the current trend of teams leaning toward younger, more cost-effective rosters.

Possible Destinations

  • Rain or Shine: A reunion could be in the cards. Mocon was originally drafted by the Elasto Painters, though his departure followed a contract dispute.

  • Phoenix Fuel Masters: Having played for Phoenix previously, Mocon is a known quantity there, but their current rebuilding phase might make his salary a non-starter.

  • Magnolia Hotshots: Rumors have also linked Mocon to the Hotshots, where his versatility as a "tweener" forward could provide valuable depth for a championship contender.

What’s Next?

The NLEX Road Warriors are clearly in "deal-making" mode. Whether they are clearing space for a major free-agent acquisition or simply stockpiling assets, the departure of Valdez or Mocon would signal a significant shift in their strategy.
