PBA Import ALERT: Blackwater Bossing Eyes 7-Footer ex-Lakers as Daniel Ochefu Struggles with Injury!
BOOM! The trade winds and import rumors are swirling once again, my dear Ka-Sini-Gang! While everyone is looking at the scoreboard, my little birdies have been keeping a close eye on the Blackwater Bossing bench. And guess what? There’s a new giant in town.
It looks like the Bossing are bracing for a major change. Current import Daniel Ochefu is reportedly dealing with a nasty hyperextended knee that he picked up during their clash with NLEX last Friday. You could see the effect in their loss to Terrafirma—Ochefu just wasn't himself, finishing with only 11 points. When your import is hobbling, your conference is in trouble!
Enter the "Back-up" Giant: Robert Upshaw.
The 7-foot behemoth was spotted right at the back of the Blackwater bench, and let me tell you, this guy has a resume that will make you look twice. We’re talking about a former Los Angeles Lakers Summer League standout! You don't get a look from the Purple and Gold unless you’ve got some serious tools in the shed.
What makes Upshaw dangerous? Aside from his intimidating 7-foot frame, Upshaw isn't your traditional "stay-in-the-paint" center.
Inside Operator: He’s a capable force under the rim, using that massive height to alter shots and grab boards.
Outside Threat: Here’s the kicker—he has the willingness and the touch to step out and knock down the outside shot. In Coach Jeff Cariaso’s system, having a big man who can stretch the floor is like having a cheat code.
At 32 years old, Upshaw is a true globetrotter, having dominated in China, Taiwan, Turkey, and beyond. He’s seasoned, he’s hungry, and he’s literally standing by.
Will Coach Jeff Cariaso pull the trigger and make the switch official? Or will they give Ochefu one last chance to heal up? One thing is for sure: if Upshaw gets the call, the Bossing just got a whole lot scarier in the paint!
Keep your eyes peeled, because the Bossing might be about to "Upshaw" the competition!
