2017 Best Player of the Com. Cup Power Ranking - The Point Dominates!

(c) PBA Media Bureau

The imports are soaring high this conference that the they are pushing the locals far away from the limelight.

Fortunately, we have these five guys who are pushing their value to an import-level.

#5 Scottie Thompson
Basketball is not all about scoring. Ask Scottie about it. He is averaging 8.6 points, 9.5 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 42.3% FG. That 9.5 rebounds per game is the highest mark for a local player! Yes, the best rebounding Filipino in the league is a guard!

Add the fact that he has a 97.1 defensive rating, 2.6 better than the average, and the 21st best assist percentage, and you will have a legit BPC contender.

#4 Japeth Aguilar
Just like his teammate, The Pearl, Japeth is not in this list due to his scoring. He is here because he is the best local rim protector in the league and his defense on the outside is also on the rise.

The advance numbers are also saying that the offense of Ginebra is also way much better with him on the court. Maybe, his length and athleticism complements Brownlee very much or maybe, he is getting smarter as a basketball player.

#3 Jayson Castro
The much deeper rotation of coach Nash Racela had not derailed the contendership of the best point guard in Asia. Castro is creating 17.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 7.3 assists in just 27.9 minutes of play.

Convert that to 36 minutes and you will get 22.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 9.4 assists. I am very interested to see him continue to be more of a facilitator to see how high he can elevate his teammates and his assist numbers.

#2 Baser Amer
The breakout of Baser Amer is in consonance with the current league-leading record pace of the Meralco Bolts. Is that just a coincidence? Of course, no. Amer had been living and feasting with the big picks that their import had been giving him.

He is blending facilitation, scoring, pace-control, efficiency and leadership in a hammering way as shown by his 15.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 47.2% FG and 41.4% 3FG.

#1 Stanley Pringle
With the struggle of Terrence Romeo, Globalport is having a hard time reaching the top 8. Fortunately for the neon nation, Pringle is stepping up with his 20.3 points, 47.4% FG, 6.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists.

Stanley is only one of the three players who are making more than 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists per game. The other two? Greg Smith and Justin Brownlee.

Yes, Stanley is that awesome this season.
