Com. Cup Quarterfinals Prediction: BGSM-GBP, SMB-PHX

(c) PBA.Inquirer.net
San Miguel and Ginebra worked hard to get a twice-to-beat edge in this quarterfinals. Let us predict if they can finished the job, right away.
GINEBRA-GLOBALPORT

Deciding Factors:
1. Fastbreak Points
2. Turnover Points
3. Justin Harper

One of the key ingredients of the success of Ginebra in this conference was their ability to force turnovers and score out of it. That is a bad news for the Batang Pier that is giving up the most turnovers per game in the elimination round.

Justin Harper is not good enough to produce eye-popping counting stats but that is just fine if you have Terrence Romeo and Stanley Pringle as your teammates. But, against Ginebra, producing over his averages of 24.7 points and 10.3 rebounds could be a game-changer.

Prediction
I expect coach Franz to simplify his approach in this game. He will push his team to play aggressively and intense. The backcourt of Ginebra will be more focus and avoid turnovers and the addition of Slaughter will slow down Ginebra. That will result for an upset win by the Batang Pier.

SAN MIGUEL-PHOENIX

Deciding Factors:
1. June Mar Fajardo
2. Rebounding
3. Cyrus Baguio

Looking on their rosters, you will surely conclude that San Miguel's frontline will eat up the frontline of the Fuel Masters. I will not be shock if that happens so McKay, Intal, Wilson, Kramer and Torres better prepare to go toe-to-toe for 48 minutes.

Phoenix will not win this first game without a solid contribution to support Matthew Wright and Jameel McKay. That makes Baguio very crucial because he was their third best producer in the elimination round. Around 14 points, two three-pointers. 5 rebounds and 2 assists could may not even be enough.

Prediction
I am pretty interested in this game to see what Phoenix do to counter the inside-advantage of the Beermen. San Miguel could dominate early but if Phoenix keep it close, expect the Beermen to slowly dominate inside and secure the ticket to the semifinals.
