2017 Gov. Cup Imports - Introduction! Star, Meralco, Phoenix

Meralco will try to repeat what they did in the 2016 Gov. Cup. The Star had been on the rise for this season. Can they finally reached the pinnacle this Conference? Lastly, Eugene Phelps will try to do the impossible of carrying the team to the crown.

ALLEN DURHAM
-Bolts-

Meralco would have never reached the Finals last year without Allen Durham. Do you agree?

Allen can do everything on the offensive end. He can create for others. Make the right pass. Shoot from the midrange. Pull-up from three. Do unstoppable drives.

One of his best trait is his playmaking ability. It made his unproven team better than expected on the offensive end.

His defensive prowess is not elite but he is good enough.

CINMEON BOWERS
-Star-

He is a daredevil. With his excellent athleticism, his drives had been effective. He is not afraid to challenge giants inside. Which could be a weapon against less-athletic Filipino bigs.

He is slowly improving his shooting from the outside. If he can be average, he will be a pretty special offensive player. He also makes good passes which is vital for a team loaded with great scorers.

The videos are telling me that he is kinda elite. His timing in deflecting shots and making steals are very good.

If he can lockdown the reinforcements of other team, the locals of Star should be able to take care of the rest.

Lastly, he is also a superb rebounder. He has a pretty good nose for loose balls and that could help him be a savant rebounder in the PBA.

EUGENE PHELPS
-Fuel Masters-
Eugene Phelps is the most savage import that I ever saw. The guy never stops from driving. Maybe, it is better to say, nobody can stop him from driving to the basket.

In his career in the PBA, he is shooting 66.67% at the rim! That is out of this world! It means he hit two out of every three shots that he attempt inside!

The negative effect of it is, it made him predictable. Not the worst thing in the world because the guy is still unstoppable from reaching the rim.

Lastly, the guy is also a helluva of a rebounder. He is not the most athletic inside the court but his speed and nose for the ball is phenomenal.

The guy is not a shooter but Phoenix doesn't need him to be. They just need him to be himself and the team will adjust around him.
