2017 Gov. Cup Imports - Introduction! Alaska, Blackwater, TNT

(c) PBA Media Bureau

We are down to the last conference of the season. The San Miguel Beermen are looking to complete a grandslam. Ginebra will try to repeat. Star and Meralco are trying to go over-the-humps.

TNT wants to prove something. Alaska and Rain or Shine will try to rebound. Globalport, Phoenix, Blackwater, Mahindra and NLEX will give their best to avoid the cellar.

All teams will bank again on the greatness of their imports to carry them on the upcoming season. So, how about a little glimpse on the upcoming imports?

LADONTAE HENTON
-Aces-

Very capable scorer. He can score anywhere. He is not the skilled-scorer type. He is more of a freakish-type where in he uses his athleticism and strength to get good shots.

His style works well in the PBA because no local player can match-up with him, in terms of athleticism and strength.

One of his downside is his average, could be lower, ability to create shots for his teammates.

None the less, Henton is also an excellent shooter, knocking down 3.0 three-pointers in 41.8% 3FG, last season.

TREVIS SIMPSON
-Elite-

He is a shooter. He ended his NCAA career with 8.1 career three-pointer attempts per 40 minutes. He has an acceptable efficiency of 33%.

The guy is also an athletic freak. He is not the most skilled slasher but with his athleticism, he could be phenomenal in the PBA.

He is more of a show-off though. His defense is below-average. Blackwater is banking on his athleticism to help him out on the defensive end.

MICHAEL CRAIG
-Ka Tropa-

He is not the smaller version of Joshua Smith. No, not even Alex Stephenson. He is Michael Craig. His best attribute is of course his size. I am willing to bet that even June Mar will not be able to move him inside if he is lock-on.

Other than his size and strength, the guy can also make plays for his teammates. He is really big for his size but the man can still move like a Stanley Pringle.

That athleticism helps him make a lot of great drives to the basket. It also helps him make the great passes outside.

His biggest downside is his inability to knockdown three-pointers. That will not be a problem for a team who has two legit stretch fours.
