Quarterfinals Prediction: The Gigantic Showdowns

San Miguel is one step away from another grandslam. A grandslam that should easily lock them as the greatest PBA franchise in the next two to three decades. Standing against them is the team of the majority of the Filipino people, Ginebra.

TNT is on the road of overcoming a lot of hiccups that a professional team can ever imagined. Rain or Shine is on its way to mediocrity, unless they do the unthinkable and win back-to-back against the red hot TNT.

#3 Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel VS #6 San Miguel Beermen

Key Factors
Blocks
Three-point efficiency
Fastbreak points

San Miguel and Ginebra are the top two blocking squads in the league. Don't tell me you expect other teams to lead that statistic? Ginebra has two giants while San Miguel has the best player in the league. Blocks will be very important because point scoring for both teams are crucial.

Ginebra is the lowest long bomb throwing squad in the league. That is due to the roster build-up and the triangle. Nevertheless, they should make it count by knocking them down. That will stretch the defense of the Beermen.

Fastbreak is not one of the ingredients of Ginebra. Nevertheless, they may need to quicken the pace too once the Beermen gets hot.

Prediction
I think the loss to TNT is a good thing for the Beermen. I expect more focus from the Beermen which means more discipline in guarding the rim and blockign shots. Three-point efficiency will not be a guarantee but coach Tim can always put a fast and long line-up of Devance-Aguilar-Brownlee-Thompson-Mercado.

I am going for a one-game series as Ginebra ends the grandslam dream of the Beermen.

#2 TNT Ka Tropa VS #7 Rain or Shine Elasto Painters

Key Factors
Pace
Three-points Efficiency
Raymond Almazan

Even with the presence of James Yap and the platoon of super guards, Raymond Almazan has suddenly emerged as the leader of the new era of the Elasto Painters. His length, shot-blocking and three-point shooting has turned him into a unicorn.

The two teams are on the extremes of the pace spectrum. Rain or Shine is the second slowest team in the league while TNT is 3rd fastest. The pace that will dictate the game will favor the one that knows it most.

Rain or Shine attempts the most three-pointers in the league but they are 2nd worst in terms of efficiency. That is not a total disastrous preposition but just imagine what happen if they shoot much better.

Prediction
I expect the tired legs of the TNT will catch-up to them in this game. They will not be able to maintain their pace and the create and pass system of Rain or Shine will be a hard-challenge for them.

So, I will go with Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.
