PBA is inches away from its death

The damage of the past regime continue to cripple the league. In the suppose-to-be most-anticipated christmas match between Magnolia and Ginebra, the league recorded its lowest Philippine Arena attendance of around 22,000 to 25,000.

22,000 to 25,000 is still a great number but if you put that into perspective, that is only half of the maximum capacity of the arena.

If you combine that with the fact that the league also recorded its lowest opening night attendance, and that makes it clear that the fans are turning their back from the league.

And that is the worst thing to happen into any professional league.

I cannot remember any point in my life as a PBA fan that the PBA has reach this very low point. The league is simply clouded by corruption and inequality that is hard to stomach, already.

Can the league clean up its mess and rise again? It could but it will take a lot of changes and effort.

I just hope the board doesn't think that a simple change in Commissioner and then going back into business as usual will already be enough. Not even a superb commissioner could save the league, quick.

It needs something more.
