James Yap is now the 6th Man of Rain or Shine

James Yap is still the most popular PBA player today. I mean, if you ask all Filipinos to name at least five PBA players, I will bet that the name of James Yap will be written the most.

Of course, father time is undefeated. James is already 38 years old so it is unfair for him if we expect him to still be a starting-caliber player at this point of his career. Add the fact that this is already his 14th PBA season and he is not only old in number but also in wear and tear.

His experience has taught him well as he embraced his 6th man role in this conference.

In 9 games, James is averaging 7.7 points, 1.6 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 39% 3FG per game, in 17.8 minutes of play.

In their come-from-behind win against Phoenix, James tallied 11 points in the 2nd half. A good indication that his scoring-streakiness is still there.

With his scoring prowess, the bench of Rain or Shine is as dangerous as ever. The bench averaged 41.4 points in total.

I expect him to have a more vital role in the playoffs as coach Caloy banks on his winning-experience to help them out.
