How can TNT catch-up with SMB? Trade Castro!

(c) PBA Media Bureau

TNT is in a very bad spot. Why? They cannot really evaluate the ceiling of their line-up because they always have the excuse that the majority of their core players are playing for the national team!

It will not be easy for them to accept that basketball-wise, they do not have the right line-up to battle the SMC powerhouses.

In their quarterfinals match-up against SMB, they were outrebounded on both games. Fajardo produced 23 points, 12 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.

Having a great backcourt is not a bad idea. The Castro-Romeo-Cruz-Pogoy-Garcia quintet is no doubt the deepest in the league.

I am pretty sure that part of the reason why they built a very deep backcourt is to lessen the damage of Romeo, Castro and Pogoy, playing for Gilas.

Unfortunately, their frontline now is pretty weak and undependable. I think, their logic was, they will try to compensate it with the imports that they will hire.

But, that is still not enough. Especially if Kelly Williams is still playing 29.5 minutes in the quarterfinals.

They badly need a bigman. I am talking about an elite bigman!

There is one available elite big in the market. Raymond Almazan. It was reported before that the two sides discussed a possible trade. They did not push through.

So, how about offering Castro to Rain or Shine? Maybe Castro for Raymond Almazan, ROS will add someone that they do not want to pay anymore and then a 2nd round pick.
