The SMB-BGSM Finals May Not Happen in this 2018 Governors' Cup Because...

In this 2018 Governors' Cup, there is one thing obvious, San Miguel Beermen and Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel are the favorites.

With the way the Commissioner's Cup played out, I think the talent and the team play of the two squads are way beyond their peers.

But still, this is a sport for a reason. Here are the top 3 reasons why San Miguel versus Ginebra may not happen in the Finals.

INJURIES
Injuries can change the story of a conference. It already started for San Miguel Beermen because they will be missing June Mar Fajardo for the next 6 to 8 weeks. Even without him, they still have one of the top 4 playing roster in the league, so I do not think that will affect them that much.

That will change if one of Ross, Lassiter, Santos and Cabagnot will also succumb to an injury. That will open the door for healthier teams to take one of the twice-to-beat advantage.

IMPORTS
The Governors' Cup is not only the playground of Justin Brownlee, it is also the stomping ground of the hulk, Allen Durham. AD averaged 24.7 points, 17.7 rebounds and 7.0 assists in their first three games.

We also have a lot of new imports who are capable of carrying their franchise to the finals. Magnolia took a veteran import in Romeo Travis. Can he be the answer to Brownlee and the depth of San Miguel?

TNT KA-TROPA
The team that was not allowed by circumstances to play their 100% for the last two conferences, was TNT. Why? The core of their team is also part of the core of our national team.

It seems like none of their core players now will be called to represent our national team because of the suspensions that they garnered in the Philippines-Australia fiasco. So, Terrence Romeo, Jayson Castro, RR Pogoy and Troy Rosario can focus on their mother squad.

In short, we may finally see the full strength of TNT. How good can they be? Their win over Meralco without an import could be a good gauge.
