Meralco is winning by losing

Meralco was the bridesmaid of Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel in the previous two editions of the Governors' Cup. So, they may have entered this conference with a lot of hopes for success.

Unfortunately, or maybe, fortunately, they suddenly forgot how to win games. They lose their last three games against Phoenix, Alaska and TNT.

They are currently one of the three worst teams in the league, in terms of record. Meralco has the talent to turn this around but should they?

Blackwater Elite and Phoenix Fuel Masters are currently at the top 4 of the tournament. With the way these two squads are playing, there is a big chance they will reach the playoffs.

And that is a tantalizing opportunity for Meralco.

Why? The draft order.

After the first two conferences, Blackwater was at the top of the order, and Phoenix was 3rd. And Meralco? They are fourth.

If Meralco will turn out to be the 10th worst team in this conference, there is a good chance they will grab the #2 pick. Why?

They will still have a higher computation compared to Blackwater and Phoenix as long as Blackwater and Phoenix will not go lower than the 5th seed and 8th seed, respectively.

That means they will have the opportunity to either draft Robert Bollick, CJ Perez or the most interesting one, Troy Rikes.

Troy Rikes is 6'7 who is capable of hitting shots from the outside. He played the small forward position in America which is a positive today because of the high penance for versatility.

Meralco can still work to turn their conference-run around but with how loaded the elite teams now, will it be worth it? Their last two Finals appearance was respectable but people have forgotten about it.

How about suffering now and add a player that could be the last final piece of their championship puzzle.
