PBA News & Rumors: Who is the real TNT head coach, Dickel or Ravena?

The TNT Ka Tropa finally named their new head coach in their longtime assistant coach, Bong Ravena. He will replace coach Nash Racela who was axed after a disappointing 1-4 start in this 2018 Governors' Cup.

Coach Bong played from 1992 to 1998 and from 2000 to 2005 in the PBA. In the middle of those two spans where his time with the defunct Metropolitan Basketball League. He played for several teams like Purefoods Corned Beef until he found TNT and finished his career there.

He ended his PBA story with five PBA crowns under his name.

Although, they finally named a head coach, a report from an international site also confirmed that coach Mark Dickel did not come to the Philippines to become just a consultant.

According to a news by stuff.co.nz, coach Mark has left Canterbury Rams, his team in New Zealand's NBL, after four years with them.

This part of the report could be the key to the real role of coach Dickel and coach Bong. "Dickel has accepted a position as head coach of the Ka Tropa club in the Philippines national league."

In short, coach Bong will only be the head coach by name but behind the scene, Dickel will run the team. We saw this happened already with coach Rajko Toroman and coach Todd Purves with San Miguel Beermen

I can say that I am 90% sure about this because there is no way coach Dickel will leave a head coaching post in New Zealand just to be a consultant.

And I am pretty sure he has a higher salary in New Zealand than what PBA coaches are receiving. So, MVP may have paid much for him to make the transfer. So, there is no way he is only here to be a consultant.
