PBA Rumor: Did TNT just signed their new head coach?

The primary franchise of the MVP group, TNT Ka Tropa, continue their search for their new head coach but do they really need one after signing coach Mark Dickel who coached in Australia and New Zealand?

So, who is coach Mark Dickel?

He is currently the head coach of the Canterbury Rams of the New Zealand National Basketball League. He led the team to the semifinals in the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

The first head coaching job of coach Dickel, who is only 41 years old, was the Albanian national team from 2010 to 2011. After that, it took him four years to find his next and current one with the Rams.

Mark is a former player of coach Tab Baldwin in the national team of New Zealand. In his stint in 2000 and 2004, he averaged 9.0 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.

Now, coach Mark cannot be named as the head of TNT because of the rule that is being imposed by the  Basketball Coaches Association of the Philippines.

If you remember, the same rule was applied against coach Rajko Toroman and coach Todd Purves during their short coaching stint with the San Miguel Beermen.

But, will coach Mark follow the same path as coach Rajko and coach Todd? Will he be the real coach and the one with the designation of the head coach is just a dummy?

It seems like that is the case for the 2018 Governors Cup. If that is not the plan, TNT should have hired a new head coach already to take advantage of the long break of the PBA.

And I am pretty sure coach Tab Baldwin recommended him and knowing his current stature with the franchise, they will surely provide an opportunity to coach Mark.
