Will these two ABL stars be allowed to join the 2018 PBA Draft?

The 2018 PBA draft is upon us. The deadlines for submission of documents are already set for Fil-foreigners, October 26, and local players, December 3.

Those who played college here in the Philippines should have an easy time preparing the papers and beating the deadline.

The ones who played outside the country could be a different story.

There are two ABL stars who revealed their intention to possibly join the upcoming the draft. The question now is, will they be allowed?

AVERY SCHARER
Scharer is a 32 years old point guard with Filipino roots. He is currently with the newly formed iECO Green Warriors who is trying to join the ABL. Scharer said in an interview with Tiebreaker Times, "Yeah! I’ve talked to my agent last week, and he was telling me that December 14, there might be some things going on."

How good is Avery? In the 2015 season of the ABL, he played for Westports Malaysia Dragons and averaged 15.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 2.7 steals per game.

He is a big guard who can do it all. Other than being a stat-filler, he is also an awesome defender. So, if he will be allowed to enter the 2018 draft, he can be a starter right away for the team that will pick him.

JOSHUA MUNZON
Joshua is a 23-years old forward who is currently playing for the iECO Green Warriors. In an interview with Tiebreaker Times, Joshua said, "definitely, I have some aspirations of playing in the PBA and matching up against those guys on a daily basis."

How good is Munzon? In the 2018 ABL season, he played for Westports Malaysia Dragons and produced 24.5 points, 38% FG, 7.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 2.2 steals and 2.7 three-pointers per game.

Yes, Munzon is beyond good. The guy is an aggressive scorer with above-average athleticism and motor. He is already in-love with three-pointers which means he is on the right trend.

Unlike Scharer, it seems like Munzon knows that he may not be allowed to enter the 2018 PBA draft. So his sight is to join the 2019 January PBA D-League draft.

WILL THEY BE ALLOWED?
The qualification that Munzon and Scharer have not fulfilled is the minimum games that they need to play in the PBA D-League.

Fortunately for Scharer, he could meet the exception of being older than 27 years old.

For Munzon, he will need to join the PBA D-League draft and fulfill the needed number of games as written in the rules.
