2018 Gov. Cup: The Best Trade Assets of BGSM, DYIP, BWE & MER

(c) PBA Media Bureau

We are down to the last few games of the elimination round of the 2018 Governors' Cup. If Ginebra, Columbian, Blackwater and Meralco want to make a quick fix, who could be their best player or pick that they can give up?

Let us see.

Ginebra - Mark Caguioa
The Spark may not be at his prime already, but he can still deliver the goods. He is currently producing 4.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 46% FG per game.

With his name recognition, Mark will fetch a return that is greater than his on-court value. Just remember the James Yap - Paul Lee swap. Of course, Caguioa will not get Ginebra a star already because his game is so down at this point. But I think, they can still get a reliable starter for him.

Columbian - 2018 2nd round pick
The lowliest franchise in the PBA is holding the #1 2nd round pick, again. Knowing that that is the 13th pick in the draft, the pick is as valuable as the 12th and 11th pick.

They can use that to get a quality player that can help them in building their team. It is only a 2nd round pick so it will not hurt that much. They should never consider the idea of trading the #1 pick of the draft.

Blackwater - Raymar Jose
I don't think Jose is a good fit beside JP Erram. There is a chance that they can still work it out this offseason but there is also the risk that the value of Jose will already go down the drain if they continue to keep him.

Maybe, the best thing is to move on from him already and fetch a better fit beside JP. I am talking about a JC Intal or Jake Pascual. Athletic bigs who can make plays for others.

Meralco - Mike Tolomia
Meralco is already set with Baser Amer and Chris Newsome as their starting backcourt of the future. Which means Tolomia may just be a 6th man for them. Knowing that they have a big need for a center, they may try to use the potential of Tolomia to lure a good one.

Tolomia is a spitfire scorer. He can also create for others and has the ability to control an offense.
