The Three Reasons Why I am Watching Manila Classico 2018 Gov. Cup

(c) PBA Media Bureau

This game can decide which team will be the top seed for the upcoming 2018 Governors' Cup playoffs.

I am really surprised with the run of Magnolia because I do not think Romeo Travis is the right import for them and their frontline is not a strength.

On the other hand, Ginebra survived injuries to the majority of their core players with the brilliance of coach Tim Cone.

So, why I am watching the game tomorrow?

The Return of Greg Slaughter and Sol Mercado
Greg and Sol had been practicing with the team for two weeks now, so they should be on good shapes to contribute.

Both players will be playing their first game for the conference, so how will coach Tim shake-up the minutes' distribution? Brownlee has been averaging 41.6 minutes per game. Will coach Tim reduced that to around 35?

I also want to see how Greg will benefit from the improved version of Japeth Aguilar.

Jio Jalalon VS Scottie Thompson
Who will accomplish a triple-double? Jio finally recorded one this conference. Can he do it against his college rival, who is also one of his biggest believers?

Jio is averaging 9.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game. While Scottie is making 7.4 points, 9.3 rebounds and 6.9 assists per game.

Melton will defend who?
If there is a defensive superstar, that will be Justin Melton. Melton did the unthinkable of covering Kevin Murphy decently in their game last month. Yes. Size-wise, that match-up should never happen.

Unless you are as gritty and skilled as Melton.

Am I looking for Melton to defend Brownlee? Yes. I want to see how Brownlee will respond to the quickest defender that he will face in this conference.
