2018 PBA Mock Draft 7.0: UAAP stars are here!

We are down to less than a month before we meet the new entrants to the oldest professional basketball league in Asia.

The draft order is almost done and the names of the prospective participants are starting to pop up. Teams are slowly revealing their targets for the upcoming draft so this mock is much clearer than before.

#1 Columbian- CJ Perez (#1 in Last Mock Draft)
This is a given already. I did not hear any reports or rumblings that the Dyip management will change their decision. Maybe, their management did not consider Parks yet because he was not officially part of the draft.

#2 Blackwater- Bobby Ray Parks Jr. (#2 in Last Mock Draft)
A rumor bomb was dropped last week regarding this pick. It seems like they are already in talks with TNT in giving up this pick for a star. And if that happens, expect TNT to take Parks. I am pretty sure they are very familiar with him due to his time with Gilas.

#3 Northport - Robert Bollick (#4 in Last Mock Draft)
Northport wants to get a running-partner for Stanley Pringle. Bollick is a perfect fit because of his ability to make plays, score, shoot from the outside and with his size. Bollick's size will bode well with the size of Moala who will need to be fed to remain at optimum.

#4  Phoenix - Abu Tratter (#3 in Last Mock Draft)
Coach Louie Alas named Tratter as their target for this draft. He named Jason Perkins, Matthew Wright and Calvin Abueva as the core. With Tratter, Phoenix will have a very athletic four that can minimize their size advantage.

#5 Meralco - JV Mocon (#11 in Last Mock Draft)
MVP sister teams usually draft prospects from the college programs that they support. San Beda is one of them and together with Bollick, Mocon could also be available. Mocon can play both forward spots and he is very skilled.

He can be a good disciple to Jared Dillinger because Mocon is also multi-skilled who can make plays.

#6 Rain or Shine   -  Andre Paras (#7 in Last Mock Draft)
I am counting on the connection of Paras to Rain or Shine. Rain or Shine's frontcourt is slowly aging. So, adding a bigman who can already shoot from the outside will be an enticing option for them.

#7 NLEX -  Owen Graham (#8 in Last Mock Draft)
If Graham falls outside the top 6 picks, he will be the steal of the draft. Graham will not be hyped for the upcoming draft because he did not play in NCAA or UAAP and do not have a pedigree in the international circuit.

But, Graham is a workhorse and active on both ends of the court. I am predicting coach Yeng will be the one to take notice and bet on him to develop skills to enhance his impact.

#8 Rain or Shine -  Bong Quinto (#8 in Last Mock Draft)
I think Rain or Shine will be delighted to see a very popular name still on the board. That will push them to draft Bong Quinto who is a stat-filling wingman. Just imagining him with Rey Nambatac is making me salivate. Two triple-double threat on a single team will be amazing.

#9 Alaska - Arvin Tolentino (New!)
Arvin was once touted as the next great UAAP player. He was projected to be the second coming of Ranidel de Ocampo. That did not happen, for now.

In his final year, Arvin is bound to finish with a bang. He just made the biggest three-pointer of his career. That long bomb clinched a playoff spot for FEU. With his skill-base approach, I expect Alaska to be allured.

#10 Columbian - Aris Dionisio (#9 in Last Mock Draft)
Their need for bigs will encourage the management of Columbian to scout hard on the unknown bigs that will put their name on the pool. Dionisio is slowly making a name in the MPBL. He is currently averaging 14.6 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.5 steals and 1..4 blocks per game.

#11 Magnolia - Santi Santillan (New!)
It is not easy to appreciate the game of Santillan. I will not even be shocked if you do not know the team he played for in the UAAP. He was with DLSU and he showed them that he is a legit basketball player.

He is very intelligent in the way he plays that he always do the little things on both ends of the court. Little things like cutting, screening and positioning magnify the offense. I doubt SMC will let him fall on other franchises.

#12 Phoenix - JJ Alejandro (#12 in Last Mock Draft)
After drafting a center, Phoenix wants a point guard. If the choice is between Alejandro and Trevis Jackson, Phoenix will surely go with Alejandro. Alejandro is a do-it-all quarterback that doesn't need the ball that much. With Wright and Abueva, Alejandro is the perfect playmaker.
