Let us talk about the positives in our loss against Kazakhstan

Losing a game wherein we were the favorites really hurts. Especially if we were at home. It happens though because basketball is a sport. Two sides are trying to get the W.

Instead of focusing on the negatives, I decided to point out the positives.

Why? Because I totally agree with coach Yeng's explanation. Kudos to him for accepting the responsibility for the defeat.

Now, what are the positives in our game against the Kazakhs?

PRINGLE PLAYED LIKE AN IMPORT
Stanley Pringle was chosen by coach Yeng as the naturalized player for this game and he delivered. He was aggressive all throughout the game which helped him finished with 29 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal.

It is a good thing that we have an option of having a very aggressive guard in our line-up that can crack the defense of our opponent all throughout the game. It is just sad though that instead of playing as a local player, Pringle is being negated as a naturalized player.

OFFENSIVE REBOUNDING WAS A STRENGTH
Thanks to our size in the frontline, we were able to get a lot of 2nd chance opportunities. We hauled 18 offensive rebounds which helped us put 18 second-chance points. This is kind of a new strength for us because we usually have the smaller frontline and give up more second-chance points.

It helped a lot that we have a Scottie Thompson who has an elite nose for rebounds. I saw him run on the spot where the ball may possibly go even before it hits the rim. Wit him and our frontline, we can further cultivate offensive rebounding as our strength.

FAJARDO WAS A MONSTER IN THE PAINT
Most of the time when the ball went to the paint, either through a missed shot or by a pass or a drive, Fajardo was lurking and impacting the play. Especially on the 2nd half when he finally found his groove and confidence.

OVERALL
I think our play was much better than what they showed in the Asian games. The chemistry issues were pretty obvious which is a positive in a way because chemistry will improved over time.
