Pasaol should join the 2018 PBA draft 'coz he is as good as Romeo

In a basketball league, from professional up to your barangay, we all see these players who love to take as many shots as possible. If they hit the majority of it, people love them. If they miss a lot, people hate them.

That was the case for Terrence Romeo and Alvin Pasaol. Romeo was the first full-blooded elite scorer that UAAP saw in this century. He legitimized that with the 22.2 points that he averaged in season 76.

That was the highest scoring average in the records of UAAP since they computerized recording stats in 2003.

And this season, Alvin Pasaol just etches his name in the history of UAAP by beating that record. With his 24 points against Adamson University, Pasaol assured himself of a higher averaged than 22.2 even if he goes scoreless in their last game.

Overall, Pasaol is producing 24.7 points and 10 rebounds per game this season.

So, that means Pasaol is a better scorer than Romeo?

Nope. Romeo scored a lot even though he was playing for a legit team that was fighting for playoff spots. Unlike, Pasaol who was carrying a team of bad talents.

But, that doesn't mean that Pasaol is not a unique elite prospect.

Did you ever imagine that the player who will break the scoring record of Romeo is a proud fat kid who will not wow anyone with his physical attributes and even his handle?

The scoring ability of Pasaol is not anchored on physical attributes but on his skills and his scoring-pulse.

Will he be able to do the same in the PBA? It will depend on the team that will draft him. If they will let him do his thing, he can average a lot. If they try to make his game more team-friendly, forget about it.

With the hype around him and with his growing fan base, Pasaol should join the 2018 draft. If he will wait for one more year, he may end up in the 2nd round because the 2019 draft is brewing to be a legendary one.
