Trade News Analysis: Blackwater will NOT Trade Parks

(c) Sports.Inquirer

The owner of Blackwater Elite basically ended any possibility of a Bobby Ray Parks trade in the near future after telling Spin.ph that they will not move the two times UAAP MVP.

By making an official statement, trading Parks in the near future will totally drag the image of Blackwater down to the pit.

Blackwater offered a maximum three-years rookie contract to Parks. With that offer, Parks does not have any technical reason to not sign with Blackwater.

Mr. Dioceldo Sy may have heard the response of Parks last Sunday when asked about his current status. Parks said that he respects the team that drafted him and he will honor the process.

Mr. Sy also added that they are setting up a meeting with Parks' agent and will try to suggest that he will play in the 2019 Philippine Cup.

Here is my take.

I think, there was really a trade discussion between TNT, Meralco and Blackwater. I also believed that all of them agreed in principles but I believed the primary drive of Blackwater in doing it was the rumored unwillingness of Parks to play for their franchise.

It seems like that was cleared already and I also believed that the negative reaction of the PBA universe to the reported three-team exchanges, soured the owner of Blackwater in continuing the trade.

Now, let us wait for the aftermath of the meeting. There is a chance that in that meeting, the agent will try to ask for a trade.

The good news is, there is only a chance.
