In a very interesting twist, the owner of Blackwater Elite made a comment through Philippine Star. Mr. Dioceldo Sy said that Bobby Ray Parks Jr., the #2 pick in the recent draft, will make his debut with the Elite.
That is now ironic to the recent news of a three-team trade. Blackwater is bound to receive Brian Heruela and Jericho Cruz. TNT will be welcoming Baser Amer. And Meralco will finally get Parks.
With Mr. Sy's comment, it seems like the trade is off.
That is bad news to the players involved. Especially with Sy's emphasis on good chemistry as a basis of keeping him.
He is basically setting up an excuse already for an inevitable trade. Which means the players involved are playing for teams that will let them go soon.
One more interesting claim from the owner is that Parks will play for them in the 2019 Philippine Cup. Up to this point, it is not yet clear if Alab Pilipinas of the ASEAN Basketball League will let him go.
Nonetheless, I am all for Parks to at least play a conference for the Elite. At least, he can showcase his real value for them.
That way, it will be much harder to approved the proposed trade.
