In a surprising ASEAN Basketball League news, Jason Brickman is parting ways with the Thailand-based team Mono Vampire.

According to subsequent reports, he is now setting his eyes to the 2019 PBA draft.

That will surely hurt the chances of Mono Vampire because Brickman is their starting point guard who is currently the all-time assists leader in the history of the ABL with 685 dimes.

His great quarterbacking ability has prompted coach Jimmy Alapag to compare him to John Stockton. When asked to describe Jason's game, Alapag answered in April 2018 was, "he’s probably one of the smartest point guards I’ve seen in a long time. For someone who doesn’t blow you away with his athleticism or his size, his basketball IQ is off the charts. If you let him pick you apart, he will." (rappler)

Brickman is only 5'9 and that is small even for PBA standards. Although his impact in the court goes beyond his size. In 13 games this season with Mono, he averages 12.8 points, 43% FG, 42% 3FG, 4.5 rebounds, 8.9 assists and 1.7 steals per game.

His assists number really standout. In 2018, he averaged 10.4 dimes per game and 9.9 in 2017.

I do not think I am overstating it if I say that he will right away be a top 3 pure point guard in the PBA just in his rookie season.

If you are still not a believer, how about checking his four years stint in the NCAA of the United States?

Remember that the likes of Kobe Paras and Japeth Aguilar failed to find a way to blossom in that country.

Brickman did as he posted a career statline of 9.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, 7.7 assists, 0.9 steal, 43.9% FG and 41.3% 3FG.

With his talent and skills, he will surely elevate the team that will draft him in the 2019 draft.
