Bring in the rookies to the Team Pilipinas pool!

Team Pilipinas will try to salvage their lives on February 21 and February 25, 2019, against Qatar and Kazakhstan, respectively.

They have a pretty loaded pool, especially on their frontlines with Troy Rosario, Japeth Aguilar, Poy Erram, June Mar Fajardo, Raymond Almazan and Andray Blatche. Christian Standhardinger will be the back-up of Andray.

Their guard and wing rotation is more of a problem in my eyes. They have Mark Barroca, RR Pogoy, Paul Lee and Jayson Castro battling out for their guard spots. In the wings, they have Scottie Thompson, Marcio Lassiter and Gabe Norwood.

The last guy that they included was the two-times UAAP Finals MVP, Thirdy Ravena.

So, only three will get the cut?

Wait, why are we limiting our choices for the most important two games of our national team this year?

So, how about adding these two young guys.

CJ Perez
Other than Scottie Thompson, the pool is lacking a legit energizer. Thirdy Ravena works hard in the court but Perez activity and peskiness on defense is on another level. Perez doesn't have the requisite three-point shooting to get a lot of playing time but he should be effective for around 10-15 minutes.

Perez should also be capable of playing the 2 position if they want to toughen up and increased the size of the five-man in the court.

Robert Bolick
I told you, Bolick is more of a wing player than a point guard. He is currently averaging 20 points with 60% FG and 50% 3FG per game. Bolick is, of course, capable of running the point guard position but as of now, he is more effective at the wing.

Bolick had shown composure beyond his years in his first two games in the PBA. Coach Yeng can make him run the point guard position if he wants to throw a tall five. With Bolick's length, defense will not be an issue.
