2019 PBA Draft: Is he the second coming of Marcio Lassiter

Who is the best shooter in the PBA?

I am willing to bet that the majority of you will answer me with Marcio Lassiter.

Leading into 2011 draft Lassiter's main selling point already was his outside shooting. He met the hype as he is now the most respected mark-man in the league.

Super Marcio averaged 15.2 points, 2.8 3PM and 35% 3FG last season.

So, if a prospect is being compared to him, you better take note.

For the 2019 draft, our guy is Roosevelt Adams. Adams is taller than Marcio at 6'5 but according to coach Charles Tiu, he doesn't have the handle of the wingman of San Miguel Beermen.

In comparing the two, coach Charles added that Roosevelt is a solid defender, just like Marcio. In terms of shooting, his mechanics are not as fluid as Marcio but because of his size, he can easily take shots against 90% of PBA defenders.

In the one game that I saw him with Mighty Sports, I was left impressed. He can shoot catch-and-shoot threes and was able to show me that he can also knock pull-up midrangers.

I also agree with coach Charles Tiu that he is a hardworker on the defensive end. He has a great focus on off-ball defense which is becoming more important in basketball.

Overall, the comparison to Marcio Lassiter is not totally out of line. He will not be as good as Marcio in a lot of the other offensive skills but I can see him as a better all-around defender than the best shooter in the PBA.
