NLEX wants to upgrade their guards, who should they target to trade for?

Coach Yeng Guiao wants to shake up his guard rotation. After the Kevin Alas injury and with Kiefer Ravena still out, his rotation is down to Bong Galanza, Kenneth Ighalo, Philip Paniamogan, Kent Lao, Mark Tallo and Juami Tiongson.

So, let us help coach Yeng by providing him with players that he should target.

Sol Mercado
If coach Yeng is looking for a veteran that will stabilize the position and will not commit as much error as his current crop of guards, the Sol Train is a great candidate.

Although Sol is already thriving in playing a role in the rotation of coach Tim Cone, do not forget that he is actually a starting caliber guard. He once led a conference in both scoring and assists.

Sol is capable of leading NLEX on the offensive end. Not only that. He is also a defensive stopper, which is his role in Ginebra.

His combination of offense and defense should entice coach Yeng.

What should be their offer? He should try to offer one of their young guards and a 2nd round pick.

Mike Tolomia
If coach Yeng Guiao wants to get a younger player, Mike Tolomia is an excellent option. With the depth of the guard rotation of Meralco, Tolomia is relegated to 7.5 minutes per game.

That is pretty sad because Tolomia was in the same FEU lineage of guards with Mark Barroca, Terrence Romeo and RR Garcia.

In reality, Mike never got enough opportunity to show his worth. Maybe, one of the factors is also the skill level that the coaching staff saw in practice.

Nonetheless, coach Yeng is the kind of coach who will give him the chance to play and show what he got.
