The 2019 PBA All-Star Snubs: Guard Edition!

(c) PBA Media Bureau

The 2019 PBA All-Stars game is already set after the announcement of the 24 players that will take part in the event.

24 spots though is not enough to contain all the all-star caliber players that we have in the league. So, it is time to name the All-Star snubs!

For the guard position; Paul Lee, LA Tenorio, Jayson Castro, Alex Cabagnot, Stanley Pringle and Chris Banchero are selected for the North All-Star team.

While Mark Barroca, Scottie Thompson, Chris Ross, PJ Simon, Jio Jalalon and Terrence Romeo will be bound to the South All-Star team.

So, who are the biggest snubs of the guard position?

Rashawn McCarthy
It is easy to be forgotten if you are playing on the worst team of the league, in terms of perception and quality. Just yesterday, he led Columbian Dyip to a victory over the Meralco Bolts by pouring a career-high 30 points.

Last season was his breakout as he ended up averaging the 13th highest points per game for the season and added 4.6 assists, 1.3 steals and 38% 3FG per game.

Michael DiGregorio
Another guy that was overlooked because he was playing for a pretty bad team. DiGregorio is an awesome shooter who is trying to help Blackwater steal one of the playoff spots. Knocking down three-pointers is his elite skill and he is averaging 2.3 makes per game with 41% efficiency.

Shooting is not the only thing that he can do because he can also score in different ways, as shown by his 12.9 points per game average.

Maverick Ahanmisi
The team-emphasis of the scheme of Rain or Shine Elasto Painters has made their players underrated. The biggest victim is Ahanmisi who is putting up awesome numbers this season. Maverick is averaging 12.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.8 steals, 43% FG and 36% 3FG per game.

Robert Bollick
It is really tough to be chosen as one of the 24 all-stars if you are a rookie but the current production of Robert is worth looking at. He is currently manufacturing 12.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 42% FG and 33% 3FG per game. He is already playing like a veteran guard not only on offense but also on defense.
