2019 PBA Phil. Cup - Top Trade Assets of San Miguel, Blackwater, TNT, Rain or Shine

Like it or not, one of the most interesting talking points in a professional basketball league are trades, especially the rumored ones.

Once a trade happens, we usually judged who won or lost in that trade by our perceived trade value of the players involved.

Every player in the league has trade value, although some actually equate to zero or even negative. Today, we will discuss the top trade assets of San Miguel, Rain or Shine, TNT and Blackwater.

Who is the player that will give the team the best package if they got traded?

San Miguel - June Mar Fajardo
This is easy. Fajardo is the greatest player in the league today and may even be the greatest PBA player of all time. Although, we also need to note that we never actually saw him carry a team because he has been playing on the most loaded team in the league.

Fajardo's trade value is so high that at least two teams may not have enough to match it. I am talking about Meralco Bolts and Columbian Dyip.

Blackwater - Bobby Ray Parks Jr.
This is an easy pick. Even though Parks has not played for the Elite, he will still be the guy that will bring the most value back to Blackwater. Their other young guys like Abu Tratter, Paul Desiderio and Mac Belo have failed to show enough promise to get as much as what Parks can give them.

Parks has the value to give them one of the giants that they can build around, like Raymond Almazan and maybe even Christian Standhardinger.

TNT - Troy Rosario
Jayson Castro is still more respected and more popular than Troy but in terms of a trade, I think there are more teams out there who will give more for Troy. Castro is already old and may not even be a starting caliber point guard as early as next season. While Troy is already so modern that he is now attempting 5.5 three-pointers per game with 42% efficiency.

At the very least, there should be a team out there who is willing to give two 1st round pick and another veteran for Rosario.

Rain or Shine - Raymond Almazan
This is actually harder than expected. James Yap is the most recognizable name and his having a bounce-back conference but I do not think that there is still a team out there who will pay Rain or Shine for the price of a superstar to get him. Javee Mocon and Maverick Ahanmisi are interesting young guys who had been playing and could overtake Almazan in the future.

Almazan is still their biggest trade asset. He is the definition of a unicorn, capable of defending the rim and hitting three-pointers. The mere fact that Rain or Shine did everything o keep him is an indication of how rare he is and how important is his role.
