The Magnolia Hotshots were blinded by success

Who can blame Magnolia in keeping their roster after winning a championship? How can the management believe that they have a big hole in their line-up when they managed to rule a conference, defeating Brgy. Ginebra in the process?

Now that they are 1-4 and at the bottom of the standings, I do not think they will even admit that not making an upgrade in the offseason was a mistake.

Here was my article about that, last December 2018. Magnolia not making a trade is a wrong move

So, I do not think they will have the courage to shuffle their decks now that we are in the middle of the tournament.

Although, I am still not predicting that they will miss the playoffs. Their remaining six games are not the toughest.

In order, they will play against Alaska, Columbian, Ginebra, Northport, Blackwater and NLEX.

They can still make the playoffs but at this point, I will not bet that they will be on the top 6. There is a much bigger chance that they will salvage the 7th and 8th spot, facing a twice-to-beat disadvantage.

The worst part about this massive piling up of losses for Magnolia is the performance of their top players.

Nobody is scoring more than 15 points per game. These are their players who are shooting better than 40%; Rome Dela Rosa, Robbie Herndon, PJ Simon, Kyle Pascual and Riego Gamalinda.

The players that you are looking for are all shooting below 40%.
