After Bobby Ray Parks Jr., the next great hope of Philippine basketball is Kai Sotto. I am not sure if he is the most skilled Filipino to try but I am pretty sure he is the tallest Filipino to take a shot at the NBA.
Coach Rajko Toroman was one of the fans of the decision of the Sotto family of sending Kai outside the Philippines.
He said that Kai has a good chance of being drafted in the NBA because of his size, skills and basketball IQ. Coach Rajko even went as far as believing that Kai has a chance of being a 1st round pick.
But, how can Kai Sotto be one of the 60 players to be drafted in one of the future NBA drafts?
Kai will turn 17 years old this year. That means the earliest that he can enter the draft is 2021. And with a few years of analyzing the NBA draft, a prospect is most enticing at his first year of eligibility.
Thus, if he wants to be drafted in the NBA, Kai should already be one of the 60 best prospects eligible for the NBA in the year 2021!
So, Kai has two more years to prepare for that and I believe, that is enough to build his case to the eyes of the NBA.
One thing that is still unclear is where will Kai Sotto play?
No matter where he plays, one thing that Kai should force to happen is for him to be a winner. I am pretty sure he is already on the process of cultivating his skillset. Thus, if he shows that he is a winner, it will magnify his draft stock.
