2019 PBA Com. Cup - Potential Breakout Players

(c) PBA Media Bureau

The 2019 Commissioner's Cup will start tomorrow! Each team will bring compelling imports to lead them to the promised land. Other than the foreigners, we also need to look out for players who will play their way to more minutes and more responsibilities.

Who are the three potential breakout players of this conference?

Let us see.

Raymond Almazan

He is the most obvious candidate because he will finally play for a new team and Meralco does not actually have any other local option to play the center position. So, Almazan will surely have more playing time to showcase what he can do and improved from his 8.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.2 blocks, 53% FG and 27% 3FG per game in the Philippine Cup.

Mac Belo

Blackwater has a new head coach in Aris Dimaunahan. That could mean more stable playing time for Mac Belo. Belo was forgettable last conference with his 10.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 38% FG and 29% 3FG per game production. With an import and with more playing time, only 24.2 last conference, Belo should have a much better performance this Commissioner's Cup.

JP Erram

Here is my dark horse candidate. Erram performed well enough in his first conference under coach Yeng Guiao, averaging 14.3 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.7 blocks, 45% FG and 34% 3FG per game. By looking at his numbers, it may be hard to fathom that he could further improve it. With an import in town, Erram will play more outside, giving him more opportunity to take three-pointers, make plays and will lessen the toll on his body. If his outside shot will click this conference, his points per game could reach around 16 points.
