PBA Transactions: Alaska signs a free-agent, NLEX may change import

The break between the 2019 Philippine Cup and the 2019 Commissioner's Cup was not as exciting as hyped but now that the current tournament is ongoing, it feels like a lot of movements will be consummated.

Alaska inked Renz Palma
Alaska may not have made a trade to answer the call from their fans but at least, they signed a promising wing in Palma. Palma last played on Blackwater Elite. He was rumored to have received disciplinary actions which made him ride the reserve list for some time the last conference.

This is a great signing for Alaska. Looking at their guard and wing rotation, they are lacking an explosive player just like Palma. One thing that they should help him develop is outside shooting. That will magnify his athleticism and explosion.

NLEX is mulling an import change
Curtis Washington was not the first choice so after a so-so debut, NLEX is quick into looking for other options. In their game against TNT, Curtis recorded 18 points, 16 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 blocks and 0 turnover.

Not that bad of a debut but his 5/15 FG could be the main reason for the disappointment of NLEX. His defense was also not that effective.

Their #1 option was their original import choice, Tony Mitchell. According to the report, he is already in the country and the reason why he was late may be related to transportation.

Mitchell is a way different beast than Curtis Washington. He is more of a scorer and an outside operator.

Although, the more interesting option is Arnett Moultrie, whom they are also considering. Unfortunately, he is not available until his contract in Estonia is done. If you do not remember, Arnett was the top scorer of the 2018 edition of this tournament. He averaged 29.9 points, 14.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.4 steals, 1.4 blocks and 54% FG per game.
