2019 Com. Cup Import Power Ranking 2.0: Fit matters!

(c) PBA Media Bureau

In the past few weeks, a lot of imports were replaced and some even returned. Are the new ones better than the old ones? How did the changes shake our ranking?

Let us see.

#11 James Farr - Magnolia (New!)
After three games, it seems like Magnolia will continue to wait for Farr to be comfortable. He is currently averaging 19.0 points, 15.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 3.0 steals and 37% FG per game. His efficiency is pretty bad.

#10 Lester Prosper - Columbian (New!)
His numbers are impressive, averaging 26.0 points, 14.0 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. In their last game against Rain or Shine, Prosper produced 26 points, 15 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 3 blocks.

#9 Chris Daniels - Alaska (#7 Last Ranking)
What will you feel if your team gave you up and then asked you to return? Daniels is not the most explosive and tantalizing reinforcement in the league. Unfortunately, he cannot consistently do anything.

#8 Richard Howell - Phoenix (#10 Last Ranking)
Howell is slowly getting into his groove. In their last game against Magnolia Hotshots, Howell tallied 36 points, 20 rebounds, 7 turnovers, 1 steal and 2 blocks. His turnovers are pretty high. If the Ws starts to pile up as Howell gets hotter, Howell should also rise in this ranking.

#7 Tony Mitchell - NLEX (#8 Last Ranking)
There is no doubt that Mitchell is still one of the best scoring veteran import in the PBA. Even that aspect of his game is slipping for Mitchell. Mitchell is just the fourth best scorer this conference and he is only shooting 28% from beyond the arcs.

#6 Charles Rhodes - San Miguel (#9 Last Ranking)
At this point, the difference in the talent of Rhodes to the other imports is too much for him to be at the lower half. Rhodes is averaging 28.3 points, 13.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.3 steals, 3.3 blocks and 57% FG per game. The low assists number is still too low for the import of a powerhouse team.

#5 Gani Lawal - Meralco (#5 Last Ranking)
Lawal is a double-double machine, manufacturing 26.3 points, 21.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 56% FG per game. My biggest problem with him is the exclusivity of his scoring area. He can only score in the paint.

#4 Denzel Bowles - Rain or Shine (#4 Last Ranking)
Bowles is filling up the stat sheet every game. In their latest match against Columbian, Bowles racked 29 points, 14 rebounds, 10 assists and 11/17 FG. Unfortunately, he has a glaring weakness. He only shot 7/21 in free-throws. He is only shooting 67% from the free-throw line.

#3 Prince Ibeh - North Port (#6 Last Ranking)
Ibeh is the worst scoring import. He doesn't have any go-to-move. He can still accumulate points by powering his way to the rim and making putbacks. Ibeh's defense and rebounding is elite though. He is the backbone of their defense. They funnel a lot of drives to him. He is a shred of good evidence that basketball is a five-man sport.

#2 Justin Brownlee - Ginebra (#2 Last Ranking)
Brownlee continues to be a workhorse for Ginebra. In their overtime game against the San Miguel Beermen, Brownlee played the whole game! Yes, he played 53 minutes! He is currently averaging 46.8 minutes per game! With the arrival of Stanley Pringle, his load should be lessened.

#1 Terrence Jones - TNT (#1 Last Ranking)
Terrence is just too unstoppable at this point. He is manufacturing 33.9 points, 15.7 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 1.3 steals, 2.4 blocks, 46% FG and 41% 3FG per game. One of the surprising skill that he brought in the league is his three-point shooting. With that, the local players are having a field-day in terms of space.
