Three Reasons Why TNT should not trade Troy Rosario

(c) PBA Media Bureau

There is a good chance that you have heard already about the trade rumor about TNT and NLEX talking about Troy Rosario.

Troy Rosario was the #2 pick of the 2015 draft and has consistently improved all throughout his career in the PBA. Even though getting a top 3 pick in the 2019 draft is very enticing, I think there are more reasons to keep Troy.

So, here are the top 3 reasons why TNT should keep Troy.

HE IS THE TALLEST STARTING-CALIBER STRETCH BIG IN THE LEAGUE
With his athleticism and very active playing style, the height of Troy is usually forgotten. He is 6'7 who averaged 5.9 three-point attempts last conference. He connected on 40% of them. JR Quinahan is the next tallest stretch big and then, maybe, Arwind Santos. With his height, he can easily see what is happening in the court and can be found more easily by his teammates.

HE IS ONLY 27 YEARS OLD
He is very young. He is only two years older than CJ Perez, the #1 pick of the 2018 draft. I do not think he has hit his ceiling because Troy is a hardworker and will continue to improve the different facets of his game. He has the tools to be anything. He has good touch and timing. There is a good chance that if he gets into a new team that he will suddenly improve exponentially, especially if he finds his way to coach Yeng Guiao.

FIT WITH TNT's SCHEME AND ROTATION
From the dribble drive offense to their new three-point crazy system, Troy was always a great fit. I do believe that he can still increase the volume of his three-pointers. He also has the skills to be a playmaker, if they want to.

He is also what they need in their rotation. Kelly Williams is getting old. The Semerad twins are not as tall as him and not as athletic. Yousef Taha cannot shoot from beyond the arc.

He is basically the present and the future of their frontline and maybe even the franchise.
