Chris McCullough is not the right naturalize player for Gilas

As Andray Blatche struggled for the first two games, the call for a new naturalize player is getting stronger. Andray averaged 10 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 34.8% FG, 16.7% 3FG, 4.5 fouls and 5.5 turnovers per game.

Andray is already 33 years old. So, he will already be 37 years old by the next edition of the FIBA World Cup, where we are already assured of a spot because we will be one of the host.

So, we may need to groom a new naturalize player to spearhead our team.

One name that keeps on coming up is Chris McCullough. Chris is willing and has gotten support from Philippine basketball personalities, like Marcus Douthit. The best thing about Chris is that he is only 24 years old. He can easily be our naturalized player for two editions of the World Cup.

Although, he is a great talent. He has showed a lot of things during his first stint in the PBA. He is long, can shoot, grab a lot of rebounds, make passes, steal balls and block shots.

But, I do not think he is the right guy. If I am part of the Gilas management, I will suggest to look for an elite three-point shooter. When I say elite, someone who can be a consistent 40% shooter from beyond the arc.

We like it or not, we actually do not have elite consistent shooters in the international game. Our best shooters like Marcio Lassiter and Matthew Wright are more of streaky shooters in the international game.

A consistent elite shooter should spearhead a real boom of outside shooting that our national team really need. We have reach the point that we should stop looking for size and instead focus on searching for consistent shooting.

  1. Mccollugh is the best fit so far...because He is an all around player...he is active, athletic, young and big, and already familiar bith with international brand of basketball and phil.player.

  2. I'm agree that C Mc is not the best Reinforcement for our Gilas Squad not just for Fiba WC and Olympics but also for the future Major, Minor, Regional and Invitational Leagues becuse Chris McCollough is not tje best option as he is undersizes as a reliable bigman, with a height of 6'9 can give 20 to 30 points and 15 rebounds per game but he is not a great rebounder and a ring protector than Marcus Douthit and Andray Blatche. We need a guy whos specialties can take Garbage Points: Great Rebounder and Rim Protector aside from that in international leagues you must needed a Player veey Tall and Heafty Reinforcements and offcourse a bigman can play Modern amd Traditional same to the trendy now Center/Power-Forward a role that our local talents are missing thats what we need we must Naturalized another 2 Naturalized Players 1 NBA Caliber and 1 EU League Caliber in basketball we as Filipinos are technically undersized comoare to the International tournaments will you still add another piece like Forward or Wing that we have so many taht kind of players like 6'6 Paras, 6'8 Tamayo, 6'10 Baltazar, and 6'9 Geo Chiu and wheres our other local bigman? Sotto and Edu, what if these young bigmen are busy in NBA Dreams? specially in Playoffs if they made it in NBA? what if these guys are in Conditioning in their respective Mother team in abroad to be drafted in NBA? so if that things was happen we will be lost a bigman spots for our national team and thats it the Importance of a reliable bigman we are looking for the Naturalized Players we don't need a Point Guard or a Wing Naturalized Player its just a waste of money and exposure for an undersized Squad Gilas Pilipinas
