2020 PBA Offseason Trades: Who is the next Elasto Painter to be traded?

(c) PBA Media Bureau

To continue our hype for the upcoming 2020 PBA season, we will now rank the rosters of the six most popular teams according to which is the next guy to be traded.

We will start with Rain or Shine Elasto Painters who are looking for their third championship in the upcoming season.

So, who is the next Painter to be traded? Let us see.

#7 Rey Nambatac / Javee Mocon / Sidney Onwubere
Rey Nambatac and Javee Mocon are obviously the future of this franchise. In the 2019 Governors' Cup, those two were already the 2nd and 3rd, respectively, in terms of playing time. Both are also still in their rookie contract, so financially, there is no reason for Rain or Shine to unload them. Onwubere is also a young guy who did not get that much of playing time. So, he doesn't have enough value to provide Rain or Shine anything good.

#6 Ed Daquioag / Mark Borboran / Jewel Ponferada
These three have been with the Rain or Shine franchise for a while. I do not think they have created that much value because they are role players. Although, that also means that they can easily be added into a trade package.

#5 Kris Rosales / Norbert Torres
I think, these two are a level above from Daquioag, Borboran and Ponferada because of different reasons. Rosales has experience playing for an MVP franchise. There is a good chance that coach Nash Racela of Blackwater may want him back. On the other hand, Norbert is a much-bigger deal than Onwubere. He can match-up with giants. So, if any team is desperate in getting one, they can offer for Torres.

#4 Gabe Norwood
You may have wonder why Norwood is this high. He should be at the top of this ranking because he is a legend of the franchise, right? The fact is, his name was linked in a trade rumor not that long ago and knowing the financial constraints of the franchise, unloading a maximum contract will always help.

#3 Beau Belga
Even though he has been linked into different trade rumors and trade demands last year and even in 2018, 2017 and even 2016, Belga has remained to be a Painter. This could finally be the year.

#2 James Yap
Another guy who has been part of trade rumors for a while. Of course, the rumor is simple, it is about him returning to the Purefoods franchise. I am also not sure if he met the expectations of the franchise in terms of his marketing effect. I am just happy though that he is not pushing for a trade, knowing that he can get better money if he lands in one of the conglomerates.

#1 Chris Exciminiano
We heard last December about an on-going issue between the contract negotiation of Chris and the Rain or Shine franchise. Knowing also the depth of their guard rotation, they can always unload Chris if they want to. So, I think, he is the best candidate to be traded next.
