Today is the 'birth' of Kobe Bryant

The morning of January 27, 2020, may end up as one of the shocking morning for every Filipino basketball fan out there.

Ten to forty years from now, Filipino basketball fans will still talk about how they felt when they found out about the death of Kobe. What did you felt and realized as you read the news that Kobe died in an helicopter crash near Calabasas, California, USA? That he was together with four people in the plane?

That he died with his oldest daughter? That he may have died facing the reality that he will die with his daughter? That he was not able to do anything about it?

Literally, today is the day of the death of Kobe Bryant, but in the eyes of the world, this is his birth.

What? Am I crazy?
Think about it. His death will now start the encapsulation of the story and the impact of a Kobe Bryant to the world. During his lifetime he gave us the rough draft of his story but upon his death, that is the only time that we, the world, will write his book.

Because only death can push the world to realize a person's value. It is not the space in our heart that, that person filled that will explain to us who he or she was to our lives. It is actually the void that he or she left in us.

A lot of grown men ended up crying today. Some of them manage to stop the tears but the damage inside is real.

Today, the world is slowly writing the story of Kobe Bryant. For every post of sadness in social media, for every tears that dropped, for every 24 seconds shot clock violation and for every hurt feelings out there. All of those are part of the story of Kobe Bryant.

A story that had just begun.
