PBA Trade Analysis: Did TNT gave up more for Erram than what Ginebra gave up for Pringle?

Finally, the JP Erram trade to TNT is a done deal. It seems like, it took the TNT, Blackwater, and NLEX several revisions to finally get the Yes of the PBA trade committee and this current version looks like the best deal for everyone.

So, kudos to the trade committee for doing that.

But, I have a big question to ask. Which package was better, the TNT package for Erram or the Ginebra package for Pringle?

As you can see, when you put them side-by-side, it becomes clearer. First, Ed Daquioag has more value than a Jervy Cruz. Jervy is already 33 years old and he is undersized for his position. While Ed is only 28 and still has a lot of time to improve. The biggest difference between the two is defense. Jervy is a liability in defending athletic teams while Ed is more than capable of defending any wing in the league.

For the second comparison, we have Yousef Taha and Sol Mercado. Taha is a 6'7 behemoth while Sol is not yet signed by any team in the PBA. In short, it has reached the point that Sol's value is zero! While 6'7 guys in the PBA, no matter what their role is, are more important. Especially, with the absence of Greg Slaughter and June Mar Fajardo for the Philippine Cup.

And then we have Kevin Ferrer. I am a big fan of Kevin. It is hard to find a 6'5 guy who can combine three-point shooting and defense at the good level that Kevin has reached. Another great thing about him is, he is only 26 years old. He is only a year older than Roosevelt Adams, the #1 pick of the most recent draft.

So, for a Ferrer, the two first-round picks that TNT gave up should be enough. That should be two #11 picks. If you are Northport, will you really turn down TNT if they offer two first-round picks for Ferrer? I doubt it.

Yes. As you can see, Marion Magat turns out to be an added value that TNT gave up in comparison to what Ginebra gave up.

And remember, this was the result of the revisions that the trade committee communicated. So, why did they pushed for TNT to give up more than what Ginebra gave up?

Stanley Pringle is one of the top 3 players in the PBA! And Ginebra gave up less for him.

Yes, JP is a center. But the reality is, there are at least four other centers that are more valuable than him.

Like, when did NLEX became a good team? When Kiefer Ravena returned. I am not saying that Erram is not valuable. Center is still more valuable to winning than guards, but if we are talking about a top 3 player in the PBA, that is a different story.

So, can the PBA officials blame the fans of the PBA if they say that the league is biased towards a conglomerate? They can only blame themselves.

Unless it is true.
