PBA Trade Rumors: CJ Perez reacts to the rumblings that he is going to San Miguel

There is no doubt in my mind that CJ Perez is the most polarizing young player in the PBA today. He just finished his rookie season as the scoring champion of the league and he is basically lock-in as the 2019 Rookie of the Year.

So, it was not surprising that his name is attached to trade rumors. The strongest one is that he is on his way to San Miguel.

When asked about it after a tune-up game against Magnolia, CJ said that he doesn't believe the rumors. He was seconded by his coach, John Cardel.

It is good to hear them deny it because it indicates that CJ is fine with his current team. The problem is, CJ also said to the media that he is always ready for trade because it is part of professional basketball.

He said that he cannot secure the team that he will play for. An indication that even though he is more than willing to continue and carry the Columbian franchise, he cannot control the management if they want him out.

Reading between the lines, I think CJ is implying that he is fine to be with Columbian Dyip. And that is a very good thing to decode, especially, with a lot of other star players forcing themselves into richer or popular franchises.

In that tune-up game against Magnolia, they got the victory, 101-100 and he led Columbian with 25 points.

Unfortunately, we did not saw his partnership with the #1 pick of the 2019 draft, Roosevelt Adams, because Adams was injured. I hope to see Perez and Adams together for a long time.
