PBA Controversy: Abueva received an offer from Japan! Accept or reject?

Just several days from the decision of Thirdy Ravena to sign with San-En NeoPhoenix, Calvin Abueva confirmed to Spin.ph that he has an offer from the Japan B League!

He revealed that the team contacted an agent-friend of his who relayed to him the offer. Although Calvin was quick to brush off the possibility of him accepting it because of his PBA contract and that personally, he still wants to fix things in the PBA.

He even revealed that in the past, before even reaching the PBA, he was already receiving offers from the international league.

But his dream was always to be in the PBA. So, he never gave enough thought about taking any of those offers.

But, the Beast is not closing the door to the possibility of joining Japan. Especially if his suspension remains intact for the foreseeable future.

He has a family to feed and looking at what Thirdy Ravena got according to the rumors, taking the offer will be a very good financial decision.

The biggest hurdle could be his 3-years contract with the Phoenix Fuel Masters that he signed in 2018. That means, he will only be free of that commitment by 2022.

So, even if he plans to sign this year, there will be legal constraints that he will need to hurdle first before he can go to Japan.

So, should he accept it or not?

Without taking any consideration for family internal-matters, I think he should really consider following Thirdy Ravena to Japan.

It could mean that he may never play in the PBA again but I hope he can see the possible reward to his legacy if he can show the Philippines that he can still be the Beast in a foreign land.

He can be the Beast of Asia, not only of the Philippines.
